Richmond, VA) The Virginia Auctioneers Association(VAA) hosted is 55th Annual Educational Convention at the Omni Hotel in Richmond, Va from January 11-13th. More than 140 auctioneers and auction professionals attended the multi-day event.
The VAA was pleased to welcome National Auctioneers Association President J.J. Dower to speak at a seminar on the advantages of live and. online auctions to sell property in different situations.
Several members received awards at Saturday evening banquet. The award for “Auctioneer of the Year” went to Ben Yoder of Stuarts Draft, Va. The Jake Horney Memorial Award went to J.T. Clark of Mechanicsville, Va. For “Hall of Fame” there were two inductees; Roger Craig of Verona, VA and the women of the VAA Auxiliary.
In the always-popular Annual Rookie Contest, William Dunn of Tappahannock, Va competed among six first-year licensed auctioneers to take the championship.
The Virginia Auctioneers Association will hold its Mid-Year Convention and Auctioneer Championship on August 3, 2013 in Midlothian, Va.
